Fox Sports pair Mark Bosnich and Robbie Slater have led the charge for Postecoglou's removal after Australia's failure to clinch automatic World Cup qualification.

Australia fell short on goal difference in Group B, despite collecting 19 points, meaning they must attempt to qualify via the play-offs, starting with a tie against Syria next month.

Should the Socceroos overcome Syria, they'll face another huge task against the fourth-ranked side from North America, likely to be either Honduras, United States or Panama.

Gallop backed Postecoglou as the man to lead the Socceroos through those challenges amid the calls for his axing.

"We're categorically behind Ange," Gallop said.

"We support his desire to see the Socceroos perform well, to win, to play a style of football that's excitng and we certainly want to see that in these four games.

"Ange knows what he needs to do to win. We're not there to tell him what tactics to play.

"They're big games, he's an experienced guy, he's had success with this team and we're confident he'll see us through to Russia."

Gallop was unfazed by the discussion around Postecoglou's job.

"There's always debate. It's part of football, it's part of sport," Gallop said.

"Coaches, they've got the spotlight on them.

"I dont think the debate hurts as long as people sit back and now realise it's Ange who is going to take us there.

"We need to get fully behind him."
