Gameiro, 24, was signed by Brisbane earlier this week, as the club moves to replace the departed Brandon Borrello, Thomas Broich and Jamie Maclaren.

The former Australia youth international striker has suffered three long-term anterior cruciate ligament injuries throughout his fledgling career.

The latest blow ended his 2016/17 season with Melbourne City prematurely and led to his release from the club.

Aloisi, though, insisted despite the ex-Fulham forward’s injury record, he has plenty to offer, although he acknowledged his fitness needed to be managed.

“For me, it’s not even a risk,” Aloisi said.

“It’s someone who’s been talented and has still got that talent. Hopefully we can nurse him through.

“A lot of players would’ve chucked it in, he’s not that type.

“He wants to still have a big career. He’s only still 24.

“He’s got an opportunity again. Hopefully it all goes well for him.”

Aloisi said the Roar coaching and support staff had been impressed by Gameiro since linking up with the club.

The ex-Socceroo added that Gameiro, who enjoyed a remarkable run of form at Sydney FC in mid-2014, hasn’t lost any pace.

“We did a little bit of testing the last three days and the medical staff are very surprised by how quick he’s moving and how quick he still is,” Aloisi said.

“I’m excited because like Jamie Maclaren, like Brandon Borrello, I’ve got a soft spot for young talented Australians that really want to do well.”

Aloisi added: “Corey doesn’t stop. He’s climbing walls because he’s ready to play.

“He’s excited about being back. It’s up to me and the medical staff to hold him back a little bit because he’s had a couple of injuries.

“We just have to make sure he’s right. It looks like he’s moving really well. You can see already that he’s lightning quick.”
