NEW SOCCEROO Richard Garcia admits he’s enjoyed the perfect week for club and country but he’s in no mood to rest on his laurels.
The Australian earned his first senior Socceroos cap in the 2-2 draw with South Africa and then earned club Hull City their first away point in the Premier League with a headed equaliser against Blackburn Rovers.
The wide man, who arrived at Hull after spells with both West Ham United and Colchester United, is loving life at the top and insists the doom-merchants who see Hull as certainties for relegation may have to think again.
Garcia told the Hull Daily Mail: “It's been fantastic, I don’t think I could have asked for anything more this week.
"Last week (a 2-1 win over Fulham) was the perfect start, you can't ask for anything more than a win.
"We probably surprised a few people last week. A lot of people have been giving us the old 'Going down' shout and stuff like that but we're a confident bunch of lads.
"We're ambitious and we want to do as well as we can in the league."
Garcia will be hoping for a second taste of international honours when Pim Verbeek names his squad this week for next month’s friendly with Holland.
