But he’s also revealed that Socceroo coach Pim Verbeek did not meet him on the Dutchman's recent trip to England.

“We haven’t met. It was just a letter from the FFA a few weeks ago saying I’d be considered for the squad and that’s all,” he told Four Diegos radio show.

As for Verbeek’s plans for the 26-year-old striker, the Aussie is a little vague.

“I wouldn’t have a clue, you know." he said. "We’ve got three games left here, well hopefully three games, and I suppose we take it from there.

“I don’t know what plans he has with me in mind.”

But Garcia, who’s toiled away in English football for almost a decade now, has never stopped believing he’d be in the green and gold.

He added: “I’ve always wanted to be playing for Australia. And if the opportunity arises then hopefully I’ll take it.

“I’ve always had ambitions regardless of who’s in the squad.”

The former Colchester man was part of the 1999 West Ham youth team that included Joe Cole, Michael Carrick, stars in the EPL.

“There is that fine line [between success and failure] but at the same time you’ve just got to keep reaching for your goals,” he said

Ahead of the Championship play-offs home and away against Watford this weekend, Garcia says the Tigers are ready for the challenge despite their shock loss to Ipswich last week.

“There’s no apprehension, we’re confident we can go ahead and do the job," he added. "I think it’s important just approach it as another league game and play your normal game.

“It’s home and away so I’m sure there’ll be tactics during the week as to how we approach it.”

“It’s been my dream to play in the Premier League and my battle, my quest to get there I suppose is on the brink.”

Garcia signed a three year deal at the KC Stadium in 2007 and joins Danny Allsopp and Jason Van Blerk in the club’s Aussie rollcall.
