Garcia made his senior debut for the Australian side in this morning’s 2-2 draw with South Africa at Loftus Road, entering the fray as a 62nd minute substitute for goalscorer Mile Sterjovski.

Hull City boss Phil Brown is delighted to see his player getting international recognition because it speaks volumes for the progress being made by the Premier League new boys.

Four members of his squad have been called up by their respective countries for international duty this week.

Although it has caused some disruption ahead of Saturday's trip to Brett Emerton’s Blackburn Rovers, Brown told the Hull Daily Mail: "I'm delighted for Richard. Signs of progress can be measured in all different ways and Richard's call-up is one of those.

"You can measure within the camp how far we've come in a short space of time.

"It means there's a little bit of disruption in our squad but it's a welcome one in terms of us progressing.

"I would willingly see eight, nine, 10 players away come the February international break because that would mean we've done something right in the Premier League."
