The Reds have claimed just one win from 14 games this season and sit last on the A-League table.

Garuccio said after the 2-0 loss to Melbourne Victory last Saturday that his team needed to take more risks.

The left-back still believed finals were a possibility despite being nine points off sixth position. United lock horns with his former club Melbourne City on Thursday night.

“It’s true isn’t it? There’s no relegation so we don’t really have anything else we can lose right now because we’re already coming bottom,” Garuccio said.

“For us the only way is up, so if we keep playing and taking risks and really going for games like we have been then there’s nothing else for us to lose because we’re already bottom. For me the only way we can go is up.

“It doesn’t mean we’re there to stay at the bottom. If you look, we’re nine points out of the six… that’s three wins and the results in the other games we can’t determine.

“We can focus on our performances and start turning those games into three points.”

Garuccio also thanked the Reds fans for their continued support this season.

“For the fans that have been still turning up, thank you to them. We need that support from them and to see a full stadium will help us a lot,” Garuccio said.

“We’re hoping to show another solid performance at home. Maybe they’re upset but I don’t think we played badly against Victory.

“If you look at the game and we take one or two chances then it’s already 2-2 and the game goes a different way if we scored first.”
