Although Rogvi Jacobsen pulled a goal back for the visitors, Frodi Benjaminsen's dismissal allowed Georgia further room and Iashvili doubled his tally from the penalty spot late on.

The result leaves Georgia with an outside chance of qualification but, despite scoring their first goal of the campaign, the Faroese are still without a single point to their name.

The visitors showed little sign of ending that run, as efforts from Giorgi Shashiashvili and Georgi Demetradze tested their goal inside the first 15 minutes.

However, the Faroese also showed signs of things to come as Andrew av Flotum shot wide and Mikkjal Thomassen forced a save from Giorgi Lomaia in the 16th and 21st minutes.

Their hard work was undone four minutes later, as Georgia took the lead through Siradze's goal, struck right-footed from 12 yards out to beat Jakup Mikkelsen.

The hosts were in control for the remainder of the half, and doubled the lead on the stroke of half-time.

Levan Kobiashvili picked up possession on the right and played the ball to Iashvili inside the area, who kept his shot low to find the back of the net.

To their credit the visitors didn't give in, and after Suni Olsen twice tested Lomaia, he provided an assist for Jacobsen to finally open their goalscoring account in the 57th minute.

Borg almost had the crowd in raptures two minutes later when he came inches away from an equaliser, but a minute of madness from Benjaminsen all but ended their brief revival.

The midfielder was booked for unsporting behaviour in the 64th minute, and a minute later received his marching orders for a second yellow card.

Despite their man advantage, Georgia were never allowed to settle, and substitute Christian Holst's close-range header was parried away by Lomaia with four minutes to go.

However Olsen, the hero earlier in the game, gave Georgia the chance to settle the match three minutes into injury time when he brought down Demetradze in the area, and Iashvili powered the spot-kick home.
