Melbourne Victory defender Jason Geria has denied that the club is in crisis mode after only picking up two points in their first four games.
Victory take on Western Sydney Wanderers on Monday night as Geria said the mood in camp during the week was normal.
While he does not put it down to the “disruptions” through internationals and injuries, he said the club was not prepared to use that as an excuse.
“I know from the outside it may look like panic stations, but for us we’re fine,” Geria said on Friday.
“We know what we need to do and we’re just working on getting ourselves in the best possible shape to get three points on Monday.
“(It’s) not at all (crisis time)… what’s been spoken outside these walls doesn’t really affect us. We know what we need to do and we know the process to get us on the right track to start getting three points and I think we’re heading in that direction.”
Victory will also have the AFC Asian Champions League towards the end of their A-League season which may mean they have to start getting the ball rolling soon.
Geria also said there was not extra pressure felt internally from the club’s start to the season.
“The first few games, we put on some good performances and we didn’t deserve to lose those first games,” he said.
“In recent weeks we probably haven’t deserved the three points, but that’s behind us now.
“We do have a lot of games, we’re very happy to be involved in the Champions League again. That’s what we wanted, we’re looking forward to that and I think the boss recruited with an eye on that.
“We have a lot of depth and I think that’s what we’re ready for, we’re ready for a lot of games, ready for every player to be used. We’re not shying away from that at all.
“In the first round against Sydney FC we played really well. So the boys that do step in… they know what they have to do and it’s the same mindset this week.”
