A modern powerhouse of African football, Ivory Coast top the FIFA rankings on the continent, and made appearances at both the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.

But they have just one Cup of Nations success to their name, winning the 1992 edition of the competition in Senegal.

Since then, Ivory Coast finished runners-up in 2006, managed fourth place in 2008, and lost in the quarter-finals two years ago.

Several members of the squad, led by inspirational captain Didier Drogba, 33, are nearing the age when they must soon consider international retirement.

And Arsenal man Gervinho is well aware the same group of players are unlikely to enjoy such a presentable chance of ending the country's long wait for a second African crown.

"I am very aware of the level of expectations in Ivory Coast for the final," he said.

"It is the same for my team-mates. Personally, I think that the best gift I could give to my country, Ivory Coast, is the cup.

"Our country craves for the trophy of the African Cup of Nations. I am craving for such a trophy in my career."

Ivory Coast meet Zambia in the final at the Stade d'Angondje in Gabon on Sunday.
