OLYROOS coach Graham Arnold has called for fans to back Australia in the crucial match against Iraq tomorrow at Bluetongue Stadium.

“We saw in the match against Uruguay two years ago what a difference home support can make so we need as many supporters as possible at the match getting behind the team and wearing Aussie colours," said Arnold.
“With the three NSW Hyundai A-League clubs away from home this weekend I would be hoping for a large turn-out of Mariners, Jets and Sydney FC fans. We are expecting a large support for Iraq and we don’t want to be out-barracked by the away team supporters.
“I would also encourage as many fans as possible to be in the stadium when the team comes out for warm-up and show the team that they are there to support them.
“Support and interest throughout the past week has increased dramatically so we are expecting a big crowd and I would recommend fans to pre-purchase tickets and arrive as early as possible to avoid delays.”
He added: “This match is possibly the most important match we have played at home since the Uruguay match in 2005 because this is the next group of Socceroos looking towards the next World Cup.
“We need these players to progress to the next level as soon as possible and qualification means another year of exposure to international football, and of course the team also will then have the opportunity to compete in a major tournament next year so I see this match as very crucial on several counts."
With a large attendance expected patrons are urged to obtain their tickets prior to arriving at the venue. Tickets can be obtained via all Ticketek outlets including website on match day.
Australia currently sit equal first with Asian champions Iraq at the top of the group table with two matches remaining, with Iraq holding a narrow lead on goal difference and only the top team in the group to qualify.
