The Wanderers and the Demons will clash in the quarter-finals at Lily's Football Centre on September 20.

Gibbs played for Western Sydney in their inaugural A-League season, bagging two goals in 13 appearances. He also scored four goals in the club's first-ever match - a 5-0 pre-season victory over Nepean FC five years ago.

The striker was let go by the Wanderers at the end of the 2012/2013 campaign and since then has had stints at the Newcastle Jets, Marconi, Hong Kong outfit Tai Po FC and at Blacktown City.

But Gibbs has no hard feelings from his time at Wanderland.

"I don't have a point to prove," hetold FourFourTwo.

"I go into every game wanting to score goals so nothing changes. There's always that added feeling playing an A-League team because us boys really want to be there.

"All the state league and NPL boys want more opportunities, we want to be playing at that high level or the possibility of getting to that next level. So any opportunity we get we want to take it with both hands.

"It will be like a normal game for us but obviously with a lot motivation involved, so we'll buzzing for it. I really enjoyed my time at the Wanderers. It was a really special season that season.

"I have some great memories there and made some great friendships too. I guess the team's totally changed now but it's still a strong club. We expect a very tough game."

Gibbs was happy to be drawn with Western Sydney after the Demons downed APIA Leichhardt 3-1 in the round of 16.

"It's a great draw," he said.

"I reckon there's a lot of people who are Western Sydney fans who might have a brother or a cousin who's played at Blacktown, so they'll be very interested in the fixture. It's a proper Western Sydney derby. It should be a great night.

"APIA are a very strong team. We've struggled with them all year. They pipped us to the title which left a bit of a sour taste in our mouths. But that's why they won it, because they're a very strong team. It was good for us to get one over them in the Cup."

Gibbs has been in electric form in the FFA Cup so far, with four goals in the past few matches. He got a brace in the win over APIA and another two in the victory against Central Coast.

He also racked up 12 goals in 24 matches in the NPL NSW.

"I'm feeling pretty good at the moment football-wise," the 25-year old said.

"The boys behind me are giving me the service so it's working out pretty well. Hopefully it continues for the next one. I've had a year I'm pretty happy with this year. It's been going well."

Blacktown City have been one of the highlights of this year's FFA Cup after they upset the Mariners 3-2 in the round of 32.

"We've got some talented boys in our team," Gibbs said.

"It's good we get the opportunity at that level to play an A-League team in a competitive context. So many of the boys really crave to play at that level so it's good that when we got the opportunity we took it with both hands and showed people what we can do.

Gibbs came through the ranks at Sydney FC and was the youngest player to play in an A-League grand final back in 2010.

The striker admits he still harbours A-League ambitions.

"I'd love to play at that level again," he said.

"It's normal having ambition and desire to play at a higher level, otherwise you go backwards and go downhill. Like nearly all the boys in the team, I want to play at the next level."
