Providing Giggs shrugs off a minor niggle, he should be involved in tonight's fourth-round tie against Tottenham at Old Trafford as United look to take another step towards a 12th success in the tournament.

For Giggs, it would mean a fifth trophy and a place alongside Arthur Kinnaird, Charles Wollaston and Jimmy Forrest as the most successful FA Cup participants of all time.

Even at 35, the hunger still drives him. He may be a couple of seasons from retirement, but Giggs' appetite is as strong as ever.

"As you come to the end of your career, the motivation gets stronger - because this could be the last one," he explains.

"You are more focused and more determined than ever, and I really want to get back to Wembley."

Giggs will be doing just that in the Carling Cup, while the FA Cup remains high on the list of priorities - despite an injury list that has robbed Sir Alex Ferguson of at least 10 senior stars.

That is not to say opposite number Harry Redknapp is any better off.

The Spurs boss has caused quite a stir with his threat - since amended - to field the weakest team he has at his disposal.

Giggs is refusing to be distracted by the opposition's preparations.

"There is no point thinking about what Tottenham are doing," he said.

"You have to approach every game with the right attitude and concentration; otherwise you will get beaten.

"Tottenham are a great club with good traditions in the FA Cup. We cannot take them lightly."

Ferguson is set to name Darren Fletcher as a makeshift right-back - with Richard Eckersley, James Chester and Rafael's twin brother Fabio among the likely substitutes.

For United, it is purely about getting through - then moving on to Tuesday's Barclays Premier League trip to West Brom. For most outside observers, it is another step towards an unprecedented quadruple.

"People talk about winning four trophies, but players just get on with it," Giggs added.

"We have put the Carling Cup to bed, next is the FA Cup.

"We just have to perform, whatever competition we are playing in."
