The former Adelaide United striker has spoken to his former Hindmarsh boss and admits he would love a switch to the Moore Park outfit.

However, at no stage has a deal been offered to Giraldi and the youngster has the chance of a spot in Italy’s Serie D next season if he fails to secure a new A-League club.

In the meantime Giraldi will keep his fitness levels up during a six-week stint with NSW Premier League side Wollongong Wolves.

The 22-year-old told au.fourfourtwo.com today: “I have spoken to Kossie but it was more a friends chat than anything.

"It wasn’t a case of him saying he could offer me this or that. Having said that it’d be awesome to work with him again and join Sydney FC. I know he thinks highly of me.

“I loved working with Kossie at Adelaide. He was very positive and helped me add some cockiness into my game.

"I learnt more about myself in a year than I’d ever have thought under him. I think I’ve lost that recently and I need to get it back.”

Giraldi wants to remain in the A-League and believes he has a lot to offer. He said: “I made nine or 10 starts last year in the league and played in 5 out of 6 Champions League matches.

"I stayed clear of injury and I think it was a positive year for me. It proved I can play at that level.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Adelaide and although I found it difficult to gain confidence from certain people at the club, it was great to be among the boys and I wish them well for the future.”

A move to Queensland Roar looked on the cards at one stage but that now looks unlikely. Geraldi said: “I haven’t spoken to Frank (Farina) for about three months. It’s disappointing.”

Still, Giraldi is happy to listen to and consider all Australian offers. He said: “My preference is to stay here although there is the Italian offer at the end of July.

“We’ll just have to see.” Giraldi has enjoyed a previous stint in Italy with Empoli and Cuoio Pelli.
