Genova International School of Soccer (GISS) is proud to announce its youth squad’s first tour of Italy.
Over the last twelve months the GISS squad of players has been participating in the "Pathway to Europe" program which aims to develop local talent at all levels by enhancing both technical and tactical skills. The ultimate goal is to produce stars of the future and the "Pathway to Europe" initiative offers a combination of top level coaching, a unique opportunity to travel to Europe and exposure to a variety of international clubs.
Since its inception, GISS has coached over 180 junior soccer players. Of these, 26 talented Victorian based boys have been offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience training sessions with a variety of experienced Italian coaches and participate in matches against Italian youth academies including Juventus, Torino, Livorno, Sampdoria, Genoa and Roma.
Under the guidance of Head Coach Joe De Martino, and Assistant Coach John Di Martino, both accredited coaches in European training techniques, the squad has been training rigorously in preparation for their upcoming tour in March.
GISS will stage its next international soccer clinics during the school holidays in April 2007.
