Simon, 19, has likened her Matildas teammate to one of the greatest players in the world.

And she said the Sky Blues must get onto the scoreboard early in the grand final before De Vanna’s expected entry as Roar’s super-quick super-sub.

“De Vanna is an amazing player and almost one of a kind,” Simon told au.fourfourtwo.com. “She’s up there with [Brazilian superstar] Marta so I guess it comes down to us containing her and what she does.

"Her coming off the bench can change the game. A super-sub so to speak who can really pressure us.

“So we’ll have to do as well as we can and get a few early goals. Hopefully that won’t affect the result if she comes on and scores a couple.

“Anything’s possible and we showed in round one when we beat them in Brisbane convincingly. It’s all in our hands.”

While De Vanna is almost certain to start on the bench, Sydney coach Alen Stajcic will continue with his devastating strike duo of Simon and Khamis – who together have scored 20 times in all games this season out of a team total of 34.

The pair were on target in last weekend’s 5-1 thrashing of Melbourne Victory in the semi-finals and have proven to be the best front two in the competition.

If De Vanna is one key to this grand final, keeping  Simon and Khamis quiet will be Roar coach Jeff Hopkins’s main concern.

Sydney FC have been irresistible this season, scoring 15 more than their Queensland rivals while playing an eye-catching brand of football.

Stajcic deserves credit for that but the players know  Brisbane Roar will be confident they’ll be able to hold out the expected wave of Sky Blue forays forward.

The Sydney strike pair have combined beautifully all season with 12 goals to Simon and eight to Khamis.

“We read each other’s game so well. We know when each  other is going to something and our combination  play. It’s a good feeling to have,” added Simon.

Roar coach Jeff Hopkins however pointed to his side’s win on the same Sydney ground six weeks ago.

“There were a few things that we changed before we played them on New Years when we beat them down there,” Hopkins said.

“We just need to work on our back four but other than that we are ready to go play a great game and bring home the trophy.”

With a virtual entire national team on display on Saturday, expect football at the highest calibre from the two best sides in the country.

And this third W-League grand final is a chance to make history for one side to become the only two-time grand final winner.

The game kicks off at 3pm local time this Saturday at Campbelltown stadium.

Khamis added: I’m excited already. I’ve been excited since last Sunday. We want to win the double. This is the big one.”
