Brisbane Roar striker Massimo Maccarone described the late collapse to Adelaide United as "unbelievable" after his 8th minute opener was wiped out in a four-minute frenzy.
Roar's marquee signing put the ball in the back of the net in his home debut, giving John a Aloisi's men the ideal start on Friday night.
But two quickfire goals Ryan Kitto (88') and Johan Absalonsen (92') saw the Reds walk away with the spoils at Suncorp.
"It’s very disappointing because we cannot take this goal and lose the game in (a few) minutes," the Serie A veteran said.
"We missed many shots...it’s unbelievable."

The 38-year-old Italian, who was considered a risky signing by some given his age, was impressive, and put in a dogged shift.
Whereas in Round one he lacked service, Maccarone couldn't help but get on the end of a brilliant cross by Corey Brown.
Peeling off to the back post, he smacked the ball past goalkeeper Paul Izzo at close range to give the home fans a morale-boosting opener.
Roar could have had a second on 48 minutes when Reds goalkeeper Paul Izzo had a rush of the blood to the head and raced off his line - only to redeem himself with a spectacular double save off Nicholas D'Agostino.
But Maccarone wasn't about to point the finger at the 19-year-old.
"Not just D’Agostino, me as well. Usually I scored from this postion," Maccarone said of the team's missed chances.
"We have to see the mistakes we did and keep going for the next game here...we can do more, we can do more."
The result means Roar have yet to register a point after back-to-back losses, including a 2-0 defeat to Melbourne City. While the Reds are currently on four points with a draw and a win on the road.
