Second-half strikes from substitute George Blackwood and Riley McGree have helped Australia to a 2-0 win over Brunei Darussalam in their AFC Under-23 qualification opener in Myanmar on Wednesday night.
The match was deadlocked at 0-0 at the break despite Australia dominating with 10 chances, before Blackwood's half-time introduction led to the opening goal on 53 minutes.
Blackwood, who will join Adelaide United, netted from the penalty spot to ease the tension.
McGree, who signed with Club Brugge earlier this week, sealed the result with a goal in the 85th minute.
Olyroos coach Josep Gombau said Australia were unfortunate not to win by more, but was happy with the three points.
"Even though we got only two goals, it is a victory," Gombau said.

"Brunei were good opponents and we were unfortunate in the first half – the keeper saved good shots and our strikers missed a few."
Blackwood was one of two half-time substitutes made by Gombau, with Bruce Kamau also introduced at the expense of Trent Buhagiar and Lachlan Scott.
"In our team, all players are key players," Gombau said.
"I believe in each of my players‘ performance. We are focused on this tournament as our aim is to qualify.“Â
Australia play Singapore next on Friday, before they meet Myanmar in their final group game on Sunday.
Myanmar defeated Singapore 2-0 on Wednesday night, with only top spot guaranteed progression.
