Former Grand Prix CEO, Judith Griggs, is set to become the independent chairperson on the Congress Review Working Group.
AAP reported that Griggs is set to take the role of independent chairperson on the Congress Review Working Group.
Griggs is an Australian lawyer and was the first CEO of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation upon the event's relocation to Melbourne.
She is a Harvard graduate and was named Australian Business Woman of the Year in 1996.
FIFA's criteria for the independent chair stated that the individual must have no connection to the other parties - either A-League clubs, FFA or member federations - practically ruling out any Australian footballing identity.
They must also have had experience in sport moderation. As independent chair she will wield considerable power over the final decisions made through the Working Group and will also possess the authority to ensure all agreed steps are fulfilled.
Griggs has experience in dealing with powerful figures and a top-down governance system, working closely with Formula One executive Bernie Ecclestone throughout his controversial reign as boss of the motorsport competition.
The newly formed panel must submit its proposal for the new makeup of Australian football's governance system by July 31.
