The Irons remain rooted to the foot of the table, four points from safety, after Saturday's 0-0 draw with Blackpool made it a second home draw in a week.

West Ham - who on another day could have been awarded at least two first-half penalties - certainly had enough of the ball in the final third, but lacked decisiveness when it mattered most.

Too often players blasted the ball off target or had shots blocked when the better option was laying off to a team-mate, while Luis Boa Morte and Pablo Barrera both should have done better when given a clear sight of goal during the second half.

But Grant believes results will soon follow if his team continues to play in the same manner.

"It is strange to analyse this game, because yes we could have made better decisions, but we had enough chances to win the game three times over," Grant said. "We need to put the ball in the net, that is what we missed.

"We spoke about it a month ago when we scored an average of one goal a game, but then we scored three times in the Carling Cup and twice at Birmingham. Against Blackpool we created more chances than we did in the last three games.

"Our decisions need to be better, but it is only a matter of putting the ball in the net."

Some sections of the Upton Park faithful again vented their frustrations at the final whistle, with calls for Grant's dismissal continuing to grow on the back of a seven-match winless run in the league.

However, the former Portsmouth and Chelsea boss has no issue with West Ham's demanding support.

"The fans are great. A few of them sometimes show their disappointment, but I don't have a problem with them," he said. "They are behind us, so it's good."

Grant, who takes his men to Anfield next weekend, added: "When you have one win from 13 games you think everything is not good, so it is very strange to analyse this situation.

"You need that first win. After this, we will win. We are doing everything, but sometimes when you don't win it gets harder and harder.

"Of course it's also a psychological thing, but when you have big psychological problems you can't perform like we did.

"We need to improve, but we did good things and I believe that if we continue to do the right things, we will win games."
