Portsmouth boss Avram Grant would be delighted to see a Roman Abramovic-like figure take over at Fratton Park, even if it meant the club spending above its means again.
The Israeli is no stranger to having unlimited funds at his disposal, after leading Chelsea to the Champions League Final and second in the Premier League in 2008.
But Grant comes up against his former employers at Fratton Park on Wednesday night managing a club which became the first from the top flight to plunge into administration last month.
While the teams are at opposite ends of the table, there is no doubt both have spent above their means in a bid to win honours.
The difference is that Abramovich's wealth meant Chelsea could afford to.
Pompey's spending spree, which attracted the likes of Sol Campbell, Peter Crouch and Glen Johnson to the club, may have put them on the brink of extinction.
But Grant sees no problem with wealthy owners like Abramovic attempting to bankroll their sides to the top of the Premier League.
He said: "This owner (Abramovic) took the club and did more than (Jose) Mourinho and more than I did for it. We need to respect that.
"It depends on the owners and how much money they can spend.
"As I understand, Portsmouth spent more money than they could. But let's say Roman Abramovic B comes to Portsmouth and spends £100 million, I would be very happy. I would be happy with £1 million!"
While Pompey's problems began when former owner Alexandre Gaydamak withdrew his financial backing in late 2008, Grant is certain Chelsea are in safe hands with Abramovic.
He added: "I think they have the best owner.
"You have to remember one thing about him. Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool were great before and will stay great clubs. But Abramovic put Chelsea in the position they are now.
"Of course, I think any club would want an owner like this. He gives a lot of money and a lot of emotion to them.
"If you think that he is perfect, he is not perfect. But name me one person in the world who is perfect.
"This owner took a team outside of the big clubs and made them one of the most respectable teams in the world."
Grant will tackle Chelsea without Ivorian loanee Aruna Dindane, who has been ruled out by the club's administrators as his parent club Lens are entitled to £4 million if he plays another game.
The former Israel boss has accepted the striker will not be at Fratton Park on Tuesday night.
But he hopes Pompey can broker a deal with the French side which will allow Dindane to finish the campaign in Hampshire.
With the Pompey squad already depleted and the player likely to be searching for pastures new in the summer, Grant believes a compromise would be best for all parties.
He said: "I don't know what the situation is. I've tried to find out about him. I think I will know more soon.
"The squad is very short in all areas - we especially don't have enough forwards and defenders.
"He's a great boy, a nice guy and for him, it would be great to play. For Lens, it would be great for him to play.
"Maybe he will score one or two goals and then they can sell him for a lot more money."
