THE Green and Gold Army will be massing around the globe this weekend to hopefully roar the Socceroos across the World Cup qualification finishing line.
As always, a small but dedicated group of fans have made the trip to Doha, but it's closer to home that big numbers are tipped to masse in the hope that our World Cup passage is secured.
GGArmy spokesman John McGauran said: "It's a little anti-climatic in a way. After all the knife-edged stuff we went through last time around against Uruguay, qualification for South Africa 2010 has proved much smoother. That said, we can never take this for granted. This is the biggest event on earth and - fingers crossed - we're going to be there again."
The Form Guide has Australian fans confident of the team claiming the necessary point, with the Socceroos defeating Qatar in all three previous meetings during the campaign.
"It's possible for us to qualify without winning another game, but the news out of Doha is that the lads are very keen to wrap it all up this weekend. And what a statement for our fledgling global football reputation it would be to qualify first for the tournament," says McGauran.
GGArmy members will be cheering on Pim Verbeek's team at live sites in Australian capitals and regional centres as well as London and, of course, Doha. Details below.
