VINCE Grella admits he has endured one of his hardest seasons as a professional footballer as he looks to repay a debt to Blackburn Rovers and aid their EPL survival.
The Socceroo midfielder's first season in English football has been badly disrupted by injury and his club is locked in a desperate battle against relegation.
Grella just wants to help keep the club up and then start afresh for the next campaign at Ewood Park.
He is grateful for the club's patience and support this year though.
Grella told the Lancashire Telegraph: "I feel I have a small debt to repay and I think in these games I can show what I am about.
"This has been one of the hardest seasons I have ever had."
However, Grella is refusing to become depressed by the situation and has a philosophical approach.
"The expectation on me has been high but that comes with football. It has been frustrating but I have to be positive. Things happen in football and that is part of the profession," he said.
Once the current campaign is over Grella has vowed to get any injury concerns dealt with and then bounce back fresh.
"I think in the pre-season I need to sort that physical problem out and start again.
"I need to get out on the pitch and feel good and feel happy.
"I want to go out there and enjoy it, play the way I know I can play and I think everyone will be happy," he said.
Rovers are currently just outside the drop zone with just five games of the season remaining.
