The 30-year-old Blackburn man says the team that makes the trip to South Africa will be better than the one knocked out in the Second Round in Germany.

"We have a strong team and I think it's a better team than in Germany," Grella said.

He said the players knew what was expected of them because of their previous experience.

"There's a lot of experience and most of the players have already been to a World Cup," Grella told News Ltd. "They know the expectation, they know the importance of the games and preparing well."

It comes as concerns grow about many of the key Australian players including Grella, who returned to Premier League action on the weekend.

Others including Harry Kewell and Mark Bresciano have had limited game time at Galatasaray and Palermo respectively, while Craig Moore and Jason Culina must rely on training only before June.

He said each of the team from Germany had gained more international experience.

Grella added: "That doesn't mean you're going to win the World Cup.

"But we are stronger for what has happened over the past three years - going through a different qualification phase has given us so much more experience."

Germany, Ghana and Serbia await the Socceroos in Group D.
