BLACKBURN Rovers manager Sam Allardyce says he's in no rush to sell Vince Grella and is hopeful the Australian midfielder can overcome his injury problems for the upcoming season.
Earlier in the northern summer, Blackburn almost offload Grella to Galatasaray, but the move fell through after failing to agree personal terms.
Rovers have endured a frustrating off-season transfer period with little funds for signings, but Allardyce, in Australia for a pre-season tour, claims he's happy with his squad and would only sell a player like Grella for a good price.
"It depends like anything, Blackburn Rovers will ultimately sell anybody if the price is right because we're a selling football club," he said.
"We sold players last year to the tune of 33 million pounds ($A56.31 million), but we don't have to do that now so unless the right price and it's good for the club, we won't be looking at it."
Grella, who almost moved to Galatasaray earlier in the transfer window as Rovers tried to generate funds for recruitment, has had an injury-cursed time since moving to Lancashire, but Allardyce is hopeful he'll find form this season.
"He's been working very hard on a program on his own," he said.
"We hope he's over that now, he's back here fit again and we hope he shows the sort of form he showed in Italy."
Blackburn's other Australian Brett Emerton echoed Allardyce's sentiments with regard to Grella.
"He's desperate to show everyone there what he can do and what a great player he is," he said.
"It was a frustrating 12 months with all those injuries he had and the Rovers' fans are yet to see the best of him.
"I've got no doubt he can put all that behind him and bring something new to the team."
Allardyce also added he hoped Emerton could find some form and rhythm this term after recovering from injury last term.
"It's been frustrating for Brett but I think this season is going to be one where he will show his full potential yet again," Allardyce said.
"I do think that the trauma of an injury that big at his age mentally shocked him.
"But it certainly hasn't from a physical point of view and I think he's never been as physically fit as he is now.
"This year, hopefully all those injuries are put to one side and he'll come and blossom through because we need him in the team."
