TO BE honest, we could have - and perhaps should have - just put in the entire starting XI for Brisbane Roar this week. But their former keeper Griffin McMaster has tried to mix it up a little...
GK Danny Vukovic
(Perth Glory)
Has improved from last season and so far is a contender for goalkeeper of the season. Had a solid outing in 1 -0 clean sheet away to Newcastle.
DL Diego Ferreira
(Brisbane Roar)
Solid performance from the 24 year old who took Shane Steffanutto’s normal customary position. Deputised well and has strong fitness levels considering the limited starts he’s made in this A-League campaign.
DC Zac Anderson
(Central Coast Mariners)
Helped Central Coast to another clean sheet in the 0-0 encounter versus a very determined Melbourne Heart who wanted to impress under new coach John Van 't Schip. Mariners were under the pump for parts of the game and Zac was well composed in difficult situations. Was one member of the squad who had to step up this season with the retirement of Patrick Zwaanswijk and has done well.
DC Jade North
(Brisbane Roar)
Jade played his best match of the his season to date on Saturday night against Victory. Mike Mulvey has shown great faith in him since his return from his spell in Asia.
DR Ivan Franjic
(Brisbane Roar)
The guy is one of the most consistent players in the A-League and a real contender for player of the year. Must be playing football with a big smile on his face every time. Played another sound performance in the roar jersey.
MC Luke Brattan
(Brisbane Roar)
Another great performance from the young midfielder and, like Matt McKay, works extremely hard. Winning challenges. Passing game was at a very high level, ever involved and played a hand in goals that helped win the match against Melbourne Victory.
MC Matt McKay
(Brisbane Roar)
Had a hand in a couple of the goals that defeated Melbourne Victory 3-0. Has great work rate, always tracking back for cover, has a killer ball to help put strikers in on goal. Loving his return to the A-League.
MC Liam Miller
(Brisbane Roar)
Complete performance from the Roar midfielder. Wasn’t just his contribution for the first goal but combined in 85% pass completion of 75 passes. Had been out for some time however has come back into the team and playing at a high level.
AMRC Tyler Boyd
(Wellington Phoenix)
Came on in the 64th minute. Scored three minutes later and also helped in on Wellington’s third goal with a great low cross to help Huysegems on his way to score. Made an impact coming on and turned the match on it’s head.
SC Dimitri Petratos
(Brisbane Roar)
Had a top match playing wide on the right but pushed up. He cut in beautifully and tucked away the third goal. Another player that’s unstoppable and the week before he scored a hattrick. Was struggling to get starts but I think now Mike Mulvey can’t afford to leave him out.
SC Stein Huysegems
(Wellington Phoenix)
Is there anything he can do wrong at the moment? He’s playing with such a high level of confidence. Scored two goals against one of the teams to beat in the A-League in Western Sydney Wanderers. Cool backheel for the goal.
