NOW approaching the halfway stage in the A-League, Griffin McMaster gives us his pick of the players from week 10 of the A-League.
Goalkeeper: Ante Covic
(Western Sydney Wanderers)
Kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 win vs Newcastle. Again been very consistent this season and is one of the top three keepers in the league. His strong work goes under the radar sometimes. Off his line on a number of occasions sharply to clean up any danger.
Left fullback: Adama Traore
(Melbourne Victory)
Would be Australia's left back if it hadn't been discovered he was ineligible. Gives a very sound shift in all matches he plays in. He’s an absolute gun. Scored a good goal to beat Danny Vukovic.
Central defence: Matt Smith
(Brisbane Roar)
Not the first time he gets in team of the week. Always puts in a solid captain’s performance. Never easy to attain in the conditions in New Zealand but adapts very well.
Central defence: Osama Malik
(Adelaide United)
No doubt improving and played a wonderful match in the 4-0 win over Mariners. 68/74 completed passes. Defensive duties, everything was first class.
Right fullback: Tarek Elrich
(Adelaide United)
Put a disappointing performance behind him from the previous week against Roar with a great game against the Mariners. Starting to settle in the city of churches and can hopefully go on with it.
Defensive midfielder: Isaias
(Adelaide United)
Again featured very prominently in a dominating win. Work rate was very high 45 passes at 87%. Made good tackles and ball recoveries. Distributed very well. 66 passes at 91%. Did a very good job.
Midfield left: Mitch Nichols
(Melbourne Victory)
Had a dominating display on the weekend. Involved in many attacks and it should have been more goals against a Perth side happy to sit back.
Midfield: Shinjo Ono
(Western Sydney Wanderers)
Again we can marvel as Shinji’s wonderful technical skills, runs he make, creativity and influence. Having another strong season thus far and again not the first time we’ve seen him feature in the team of the week.
Midfield right: Ivan Franjic
(Brisbane Roar)
Producing a habit in scoring the winning goal against Wellington. His game is improving in leaps and bounds. Ange Postecoglou must be happy with his progress. Is firming up for a World Cup spot.
Striker: Bruce Djite
(Adelaide United)
Must be relishing playing alongside with one of the best attacks in the league with players around him such as Carrusca, Cirio, Isiaas, Neumann and Ferreira. Scored in the 4-0 win over the Mariners and got the all important first goal with a good poacher's run.
Striker: Sergio Cirio
(Adelaide United)
Again like Bruce, provided a dominating display. Got in on the scoring act and set up a couple of opportunities. Work rate was high and confidence with the ball is very good.
