Adelaide United has announced they have mutually agreed to part ways with Spanish striker Sergi Guardiola effective immediately.
Guardiola joined the Reds at the start of the 2016/17 season, scoring three goals in 16 appearances.
Speaking about the announcement, Adelaide United Head Coach, Guillermo Amor, said: “Sergi came to the Club with a good reputation and a very strong work ethic.
“He has continued to work hard this season, but he and the Club have made this decision in the best interest of both of us.
“We wish Sergi well for his future career and thank him for his contribution to our team.”
Amor also added: “The coaching staff and I are in constant contact with our General Manager of Football, Ante Kovacevic, and we speak every day about the players we are wanting to bring into the Club for the rest of the season.
“The transfer window is open until 1 February, we have room in the team, and we are confident of signing players that fit our football and that have the quality we need.”
With Guardiola's departure and La Rocca's recent Australian citizenship, the Club is eligible to sign up to two overseas players.
The Club would also like to make known Eli Babalj is currently training with Adelaide United with further discussions regarding his future to take place in the coming week.
