While bitter rivals Real Madrid have spent well over 200million euros on a host of big-name players and look set to continue splashing the cash, it has been much quieter at the Nou Camp.

The treble winners have only signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Maxwell and Keirrison - who they are set to send on loan for a season - and Guardiola knows that could be the last of their transfer activity.

"The market is open but very complicated," he said. "All the signings are very expensive and one of the options is that there won't be any more reinforcements.

"We are rich but not as much as others. Everyone, for whatever player, is asking for a great deal of money.

"That wise man Sir Alex Ferguson definitely was right when he said that this isn't a year to sign."

Guardiola is confident they will bring in someone else before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

However, he insists they will only move for the right player.

"I'm convinced things will happen," he continued. "There is still time to bring in reinforcements, until the end of August, whether on a loan deal or a permanent basis.

"In any case if we can't, we can't.

"We're going to continue seeing what happens as the days pass but I have no reason to complain.

"The base is very good, I have 16, 17 or 18 very good players and the poorer ones are also coming along nicely.

"If someone comes we will be more calm but if not nothing will happen.

"What is certain is that we're not going to bring in someone just for the sake of it."
