Northcote City 3 (Jason Trifiro, Glen Trifiro, Adriano Chiappetta)
Victorian Training Centre 1 (Diogo Ferreira)
@ John Cain Memorial Park

NORTHCOTE City consolidated their spot in the top five with a 3-1 win over Victorian Training Centre.

In a dominant display, it took until late in the second half for City to seal three points against their young opponents.

Jason Trifiro opened the scoring after half an hour with his third goal of the season before Melbourne Victory youngster Diogo Ferreira equalised with a fine strike on 60 minutes.

But Glen Trifiro and Adriano Chiappetta found the net in the last 20 minutes as City moved three points clear of sixth-placed Bentleigh.

Victorian Training Centre have now lost four games on the trot, without a point since their 3-2 win over Melbourne Knights on March 16.

Melbourne Knights 1 (Josip Magdic)
Richmond 1 (Michael Ferrante)
@ Knights Stadium

MELBOURNE Knights are winless in five outings after playing out a 1-1 draw with Richmond.

Eagles midfielder Michael Ferrante gave the visitors an early lead before Josip Magdic equalised in the second period.

Knights have not won since their 4-0 thrashing of Bentleigh on March 20, while Richmond remain in the bottom half of the table.

Bentleigh Greens 1
(Hayden Doyle)
Northcote City 1 (Hayden D’Agostino)
@ Kingston Heath Soccer Complex

NORTHCOTE City maintained their recent run of good form with a 1-1 draw at Bentleigh Greens.

City are now unbeaten in their last five outings and it could have been even better if not for a Hayden Doyle equaliser.

A well-timed run from Hayden D’Agostino put Northcote in front early in the second half, but Doyle pegged them back 20 minutes from time.

The point ensures City will finish the weekend in the top five while Bentleigh continue to knock on the door.

St Albans Saints 0
Heidelberg United 5
(Evan Christodoulou (2), Andrew Nabbout, Yared Hailemelekot, Takanori Nishimoto)
@ Churchill Reserve

HEIDELBERG United handed St Albans Saints an embarrassing 5-0 defeat at Churchill Reserve.

A brace from midfielder Evan Christodoulou set up the win for the in-form Bergers against the struggling Saints.

Christodoulou gave the visitors an eighth minute lead before the hosts had hopes of a comeback quickly dashed when captain Maks Cuze was sent off.

Andrew Nabbout doubled the lead on 28 minutes, tapping home from close range after he had his penalty effort saved.

Yared Hailemelekot converted from the spot in the second half before Christodoulou and Takanori Nishimoto added to the victory.

United have won three games on the trot while the Saints remain anchored to the bottom without a win.

Springvale White Eagles 0
Green Gully Cavaliers 5
(Hamid Basma (3), Jason Hayne, Brent Fisher)
@ White Eagles Stadium

A HAT-TRICK from Hamid Basma saw Green Gully move out of the relegation zone with a 5-0 thrashing of Springvale White Eagles.

It was the former Heidelberg man’s first goals for the club as the Cavaliers banged in four second-half strikes to claim a vital three points.

Basma scored the only goal of the opening period before Gully scored three goals in the space of six second-half minutes.

Basma struck in the 59th and 63rd minutes, with Jason Hayne finding the net two minutes later.

Striker Brent Fisher helped Gully’s goal difference with the fifth two minutes from time.

The win moved the reigning champions into ninth, while the White Eagles remain in the relegation zone.

South Melbourne 0
Dandenong Thunder 0

@ John Cain Memorial Park

DANDENONG Thunder were forced to settle for a scoreless draw against an undermanned South Melbourne.

Thunder had the better of the play but could not begin their climb back to the top after being docked six competition points during the week.

They did move into third, courtesy of their strong goal difference, while South remain second.

Oakleigh Cannons 3 (Billy Damianos (2), Stephen Hatzikostas)
Hume City 3 (Steven Weir, Andy Vlahos, Zoran Petrevski)
@ Jack Edwards Reserve

HUME City scored a stoppage time equaliser to take a thrilling 3-3 draw at Oakleigh.

In a contest between two of this season’s more-fancied outfits, City striker Zoran Petrevski scored in the 92nd minute to seal a point.

Steven Weir went two goals clear atop the scoring charts when he opened the scoring with a 36th-minute penalty after Andy Vlahos was brought down in the area.

The Cannons equalised on the stroke of half time when Stephen Hatzikostas drilled home from outside the area.

On the hour mark, the hosts went ahead when veteran attacker Billy Damianos volleyed home to make it 2-1.

It lasted three minutes as Vlahos scored his first goal of the season to level things up again.

When Damianos struck with his second six minutes from time it looked as though the Cannons would hold on.

But a defensive mix-up between Cannons shot-stopper Peter Zois and defender Ramazan Tavsancioglu allowed Petrevski to steal a point in stoppage time.

Oakleigh remain top despite the draw, while Hume moved into third.
