Jansen, who joined Hamburg in 2008 from Bayern Munich and still has a contract with the northern Germany club until 2013, is reported to be a target of the Premier League outfit.

However, Hamburg have declared he is not for sale.

"We have not heard anything either from Liverpool or from Marcell's agent," revealed the club's director of sport Bastian Reinhardt to the Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper.

"We have absolutely no consideration to sell him."

Jansen missed much of last season due to injury and was a doubt for the World Cup, but Germany coach Joachim Low took a gamble on him and he took part in four games in South Africa, scoring in the third-place play-off against Uruguay.
