All the boardroom politics at Anfield are casting a huge shadow over the famous club and it may be enough to see the manager pushed out or that he simply walks out.

A three-way dispute between club owners Tom Hicks, George Gillett and Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry is becoming increasingly bitter and public.

Benitez has two years left on his contract but is understood to be sick of all the fighting, however brave a face he puts to the media.

Rafa has no shortage of admirers elsewhere and may decide to quit rather than be drawn further into the boardroom dispute.

Kewell, out of contract at Liverpool at the end of June, is still rated by Benitez, even though he has struggled for match time.

He did not feature once again as the Reds earned a 2-0 win at Premier League strugglers Fulham on Saturday.

If Benitez were to quit and be snapped up by another European club, Kewell could be handed a fresh start with his current manager.

A Liverpool source told today’s Sun-Herald: "If they're not careful Rafa is probably going to pack his bags and as a free agent, Kewell would be of interest wherever Benitez lands."

Kewell’s representatives are not prepared to discuss the player's future options but manager Bernie Mandic last week denied links with Italian club Juventus.

"I have not spoken to anyone yet regarding a possible move for Harry," Mandic told Skysports.com.

“Harry has not spoken to anyone and there have been no discussions with anyone from Juventus. We are basically waiting and seeing how things go for the rest of the season."
