According to those close to the Australian legend, Kewell is now expected back in the training paddock in just two weeks time after fears he could be out of action for up to five months.

Australia's World Cup preparations looked to be in tatters when Kewell was hit by a recurrence of his long-standing groin injury that saw him struggle for five years while at Liverpool.

Since switching from Anfield to Turkish club Galatasaray in 2008 though, Kewell's career has been reborn and he's been virtually free of any serious injuries to notch up 64 appearance and 27 goals.

But there were fears for the worst earlier this week when it was confirmed he would be flying home to Sydney to see his Australian surgeon after his groin injury flared up once more.

The injury coincided with a crucial period at Galatasaray when a transfer window spending spree saw the club sign one more foreigner than the Super Lig rules allowed, forcing Dutch manager Frank Rijkaard to axe one international player from his roster.

Kewell's injury - and without having extended his contract beyond the end of this season - had pushed him into the frontline for the axe, prompting a swift reaction from fans who begged for Kewell to be spared.

After a day of deliberation, and helped by the furious backlash from loyal Kewell fans in Turkey, Rijkaard axed Congolese striker Shabani Nonda instead.

There were still worries that Kewell's injury would cast a cloud over Australia's World Cup campaign with reports he may not be fit until at least April.

But this morning, Kewell's camp dismissed the claims and said the star should be back training in just two weeks.

They initially expected him to be match-ready by the end of February but that date may also now be brought forward.

However Kewell's camp were remaining tight-lipped on reports Harry has already signed a deal with Seville for next season.

During this week's turmoil in Turkey, there was speculation Kewell had refused to sign a contract extension with Galatasaray because he had already agreed a deal to join the Spanish Liga side next season.

Kewell's actress wife Sheree Murphy and their three children continue to live in the UK, and his personal physio Les Gelis - hailed for his work in turning around Harry's injury issues in recent years - has also now reportedly left Turkey to return to the UK after growing homesick.

A move to Spain could see Kewell reunited with his family again, and may also persuade Gelis to return to Harry's side and keep him in top shape.

Two weeks ago, Murphy told the Liverpool Echo how she and Harry kept in touch by video calls on Skype, and how she looked forward to Kewell's occasional surprise 24 hour flying visits.

But she admitted: "I think he feels terrible because everything's on hold for him at the moment, but that's fine because I want to be here for the family and make sure everything's running like clockwork at home.

"His career is relatively short, so he can go and fulfil his dreams and do what he's doing and we juggle."

Previously, she has also said she turned down the chance to move to Turkey with Harry because it didn't suit family life.

"The nearest international school was an hour's drive away and the drivers in Istanbul are crazy," she said. "I didn't want to uproot the family.

"But I do get down because I miss Harry and feel I've got nothing to look forward to at the end of a day."

Sources close to Kewell refused to discuss the possible move, adding that they didn't comment on club matters.
