After slipping to 7 defeats in his opening 11 games, and almost getting the sack for an altercation with his own fans, you would have forgiven Aussies for writing off their most talented production.

After all, Kewell had previously been sacked as a coach by Watford's youth side and seemed far-removed, perhaps even disinterested in the struggles of League Two. They would have been wrong.

Kewell has now won 9 of his last 11 matches at Crawley Town, shooting the club from dead-last to 12th in the league. His performances have earnt him a nomination for League Two's Manager of the Month, and on a pure win-to-games ratio he's a shoe in.

Things are going so well for the Red Devils, there's even talk of promotion. The fans that were vying for his head are now cheering his name. Is promotion realistic for one of League Two's smallest clubs?

Crawley secured early exits from the League Cup, F.A Cup and EFL Trophy, meaning they can concentrate on their league form. Although in the peculiar world of lower-league English football, they still have something called the Sussex Senior Trophy to play for. He'll probably field a weakened team.

The next five matches will tell us a lot about Kewell's side, and the momentum that plays such a huge factor over the course of a long season. They play three of the league's top sides in Luton, Wycombe and Lincoln.

If they can survive those matches without departing on another losing streak, nobody knows how high this Aussie bolter can take them.
