After last night's 2-0 victory over Uzbekistan at a rainsoaked ANZ stadium in Sydney, the Australians sit on 13 points from five games, they lead the group and appear assured of automatic qualification.

Even if the Socceroos qualify overnight (depending on the result of Bahrain v Qatar kicking off after 1am Sydney time) Kewell wants the green and gold to continue to cut a swathe through its group and make a statement  ahead of the biggest tournament in the world next northern summer.

" We can rely on this game tonight but we've still got three games left and we want to continue our winning form," he said after the game.

"We want to go into a World Cup winning all the game possible. You don't want to come in off three or four bad games. You want to come in off three or four good wins. "

And the Galatasaray star was full of praise for Uzbekistan and fired a shot at critics who think such sides are an easy three pointer.

"They defended really well but we had a bit of quality with Mark Bresciano who supplied the cross for the big man [Josh Kennedy] and once we scored the goal it kinda opened up a little bit.

"Everyone thinks these teams are easy, they're not. They can all play they're all very quick and strong. I think people have got to realize we're not playing the likes of the other teams we used to play when we'd win 15 or 16 nil.

"This is World Cup qualifying and these players can actually play the game. 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, they're all great results."

Kewell's penalty goal for Australia's to make it 2-0 was made slightly more difficult by the fact that there was a delay instigated by Uzbekistan beforehestepped up to coolly stroke the ball home.

"These things happen in games. People try to delay you and try to put you off. They try to psyche you out but you just concentrate and hope for the best.

" You're a professional and you've got to focus."
