To see the Socceroos arrive at their new base camp...

The injury-riddled attacker has been silent since arriving in South Africa but finally spoke about his groin injury.

He has had limited game time this year and Kewell admits he was too eager to return to the playing field.

While the 31-year-old would not reveal details of "the plan" to get him on the field in South Africa, reports are Pim Verbeek will use him as a substitute against the Germans.

Although he wouldn't guarantee a start in the opening game, Kewell believes everything is on track.

"I feel good and I'm very happy," Kewell told the Herald Sun. "About a month ago I probably wasn't in a happy place because it was frustrating, but now I am.

"Everything seems to be fine. We have got a plan and we are sticking to it and it seems to be working.

"I'm not letting anything out because I don't want to get my hopes up and I don't want to get everyone else's hopes up. We're just concentrating on training but at the moment everything's looking good."

After the Socceroos went down 3-1 to the USA, Kewell and his fellow unused substitutes played in a 10-a-side game against the American substitutes and then did repetitive sprints.

He has only trained once with the full squad since arriving and he is unsure as to whether he will be included in training in the coming days.

He added: "I don't know [if I'll be doing the full sessions] you'll have to ask the trainers and the physios, they seem to have my schedule all locked up. I don't even know what I'm doing half the time.

"I'm leaving everything in their hands, I've got no say, I'm sick of having a say because I keep doing things that are maybe not right.

"Sometimes I push myself too hard and that's probably my downfall, it's probably why I break down all the time."

Verbeek did consider bringing Kewell on during the loss, but was not willing to take the risk.

The coach added: "We still have eight days to go. That's much better than playing in a tough game like this."
