HARRY Kewell is looking forward to pulling on the green and gold and playing on home soil again when the Qantas Socceroos take on Ghana.
It is the first time Kewell has played in Australia since the memorable FIFA World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in November 2005, and Kewell sees the match against Ghana as a vital part of his comeback from injuries which have plagued him since the World Cup.
"For me in particular this is an important part of getting back to full match fitness," said Kewell.
"I’m looking forward to getting back home as always because I don’t have a chance to do it more than a couple of times a year at best.”
Kewell captained the Qantas Socceroos in his last match, a 0-0 draw in Singapore and he knows that Ghana will provide the type of tough competition the team needs before four 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers during June.
Ghana, much like Australia, had a breakthrough tournament at the 2006 FIFA World Cup where they made the second round in their debut on football's biggest stage.
“Ghana has a history of producing top players that have gone on to play in some of the best Leagues in Europe," added Kewell.
"They are a great team for us to play in preparation for the next round of the World Cup qualifiers."
