Foxe’s resignation mounts further pressure on Wanderers’ coach Josep Gombau, with Wanderers’ captain Mark Bridge vitriolic last night in his summation of the Wanderers form so far under the Spaniard.

“You can see, it’s a bit all over the shop at the moment,” Bridge said. “The boys look flat, it looked slow, there’s no intensity, it was terrible.

“I can’t remember the last time this team conceded nine goals in three weeks.”

Former Socceroo Foxe had been at the club since 2015, and formed a successful partnership with former Wanderers boss Tony Popovic, whose recent sacking by Turkish club Karabukspor adds further fuel to the fire burning under Gombau’s leadership.

Where to now for Foxe remains unclear, however the timing suggests there may be a reunion with Popovic on the horizon, with both coaches currently without clubs.

Wanderers’ CEO, John Tsatsimas, was full of praise for Foxe’s contribution to the club.

“Hayden has been a fantastic member of our club’s backroom staff since his arrival in 2015,” said Tsatsimas.

“We wish Hayden every success in his future coaching career.”
