The chairman of the FIFA Medical Committee, Dr Michel D'Hooghe, said FIFA are planning for defibrillators to be at pitchside in all matches, providing emergency response that could be the difference between life and death.

"That for me is the biggest issue over the last two days, it's a matter of life or death," Dr D'Hooghe said.

"The presence of a defibrillator on a football field should become obligatory and this is the message coming out from the medical world to the executive world.

"And I think that I will transmit that message and that we will soon find a solution where a football match cannot begin without the presence of a defibrillator around the field."

Professor Jiri Dvorak also outlined how the recent incident involving Bolton's Fabrice Mumaba had helped the conference understand the importance of the correct medical care being provided to the players.
