After having their first win snatched from them in cruel circumstances against Perth last week, this time the luck fell for the league's newest club.

The Heart took an 11th-minute lead through the impressive Kalmar and then weathered a storm both of the meteorological and the North Queensland variety to hold on.

In driving rain, the visitors peppered the goal in search of an equaliser for the final 80 minutes of the game, but another sublime performance from Clint Bolton did the job.

He produced a string of world class saves to deny the Fury. The best of them came midway through the second half when Gareth Edds hit a stinging volley, which Bolton turned away.

Substitute John Aloisi might have doubled the Heart's lead late on after pouncing on a defensive mistake by the Fury, but Justin Pasfield produced a fine save to deny the former Socceroo.

At the final whistle, Heart's players burst into celebration along with the 4184-string crowd having waited five weeks to record their first win.

They now move to mid-table with five points and face Central Coast next week.

The Fury side produced another 90 minutes of entertaining football, but like last week, there as no reward as they slumped to consecutive defeats.

North Queensland are also on five points and have the bye next week to reflect on a roller-coaster first five weeks of the season.
