Speaking shortly after Aloisi was unveiled in Melbourne today, Heart CEO Scott Munn said the club was working with Colosimo's management for a deal to sign the former Perth Glory and Carlton man.

Heart begin training the week after Easter. With that in mind, if Colosimo can't find a short-term deal overseas, it's possible Heart will bring in the defender to help keep him fit in the lead up to the World Cup.

"We've spoken to Simon on numerous occasions and Simon has expressed his absolute desire to continue to train and play in the lead up to a World Cup," Munn told au.fourfourtwo.com.

"We'd love to secure Simon and we'd love him to go to the World Cup as well. My understanding is he's returned from Korea and we'll continue to work with his management and hopefully we'll be able to secure his services.

"It'd be great to bring a Melbourne boy home."

Heart have already signed fringe Socceroo keeper Clint Bolton from Moore Park and Colosimo would be their third swoop on Vitezslav Lavicka's championship winning squad.

Last year au.fourfourtwo.com revealed that the club was on the brink of signing Colosimo.

The defender finished the season in sky blue with a grand final medal nine days ago but is in limbo after his short-term deal with FC Seoul went awry due to registration problems.
