Beckham revealed on Tuesday that next month's MLS Cup Final would be his last match for Los Angeles Galaxy, with a host of A-League clubs said to be considering a bid for his services.

Melbourne Heart and Perth Glory are the two clubs believed to be leading the race for the 37-year-old, with Adelaide United and Central Coast Mariners are also said to be keen.

But Heart CEO Scott Munn told BBC Sport and said his club was putting together a bid to bring Beckham to Australia in a reputed million-dollar-plus deal for an initial ten game guest stint.

"We are incredibly serious and working tirelessly with David's representatives to table a compelling offer which is commensurate with the international player that David is," Munn said.

"We're taking to David about a 10-game stint.

"Football is the third code behind Australian Rules football and rugby league - we think David takes it to the next level."

English betting company Skybet.com have Heart priced at $3 to be Beckham's next permanent club, with Glory rated as a $3.25 chance.

The New York Red Bulls are the next fancy at $7, while Central Coast Mariners have admirers at $9.

William Hill bookies also have Heart favourite at $2.50 with West Ham as the second most likely destination at $5 and Glory at $6.

Australian company Sportsbet.com.au have marked Perth Glory as the favourite to land Beckham, with odds of $3.25 on offer ahead of Melbourne Heart at $5.
