Katsakis and Co. pulled off a shock on Tuesday, knocking Perth Glory out of the FFA Cup.

The win in the Round of 32 came after Kenjok ‘King Kenny’ Athiu scored the only goal of the game in the 48th minute.

Katsakis’ men had 18 shots as opposed to Perth Glory’s five to cap of a disappointing night for the top-tier outfit.

And the Bergers boss felt they could have won by more.

“Who was the A-League team out there? I thought we really stood tall and took the game to them,” Katsakis said post-match.

“Had it not been for a couple of blunders in front of goal, it could have been two or three to be fair. I thought we were (unlucky not to win by more).

“I thought we created a lot more than Perth did and really took the game to them.

“It was expected that we take the game to them and we executed our plan to a tee.

“We set our target to really go at them, which we did and they just didn’t react appropriately, I thought, so we were well on top.”

Heidelberg are currently first on the NPL VIC table and are competing with fierce rival South Melbourne in second.

And after last night’s win, Katsakis says he sees the gap closing between NPL clubs and A-League teams.

“I think we’re finding the gap between A-League and NPL is narrowing, to be quite honest, there’s been a lot of talk about that,” he said.

“We talk about a second tier and I think that some of these boys are fairly appropriate for forming some of those teams.”
