Wellington Phoenix and New Zealand national coach Ricki Herbert has been offered a three year deal to join an ambitious English Championship Club that is managed by a former international player. The offer to Herbert was made straight after New Zealands sensational performance against a full strength Welsh TEAM. It is said that Herbert's former mentor and coach from his Sydney Olympic days - former Mnachester United manager Tommy Docherty is behind the strong referal. Herbert will next week complete his level 1 coaching licence before being able to accept the job. The offer is a three year deal worth in excess of $ 900,000 plus accomodation, car, flights for the family and private school tutiton for his two children. Herbert is said to be distraught over his dream to manage overseas as well as his passion for the New Zealand football development as National coach as well as Wellington franchise manager. The only positive is that a release fee would be rquired if the Wellington are to release there manager.
