Herbert was pleased with his side's result but was frustrated at their failure to capitalise on chances.

Phoenix had the better of their encounter with Gold Coast and went closest to scoring when Daniel rattled the crossbar with a header.

The hosts looked lethargic and never really seemed likely to take all three points. For Herbert it was another case of a solid point that could easily have been more.

"To come to the Gold Coast and to get a point in any season would be a good result. We had them on the back foot tonight," Herbert said.

"I thought they were a bit vulnerable and they probably were to be fair.

"The last month-and-a-half has been about playing well. We had chances tonight and that's the frustrating thing.

"They had their big guns back and there were predictions we'd be on the end of a hiding. But we were fantastic. Andrew Durante and Ben Sigmund were top-drawer and totally shut them down on attack. Everyone was up for it, we never took the foot off the throttle and I think that showed in what was arguably one of our most comprehensive performances to date."

However, despite again creating several excellent scoring opportunities, Phoenix couldn't put Gold Coast away.

"Wins will come," said Herbert. "We've just got to keep things going and aim to consistently improve. We're playing very well and we have deserved more from a lot of games, but things haven't dropped our way.

"No one is denying we've had the chances and that we might've done better with those, so the onus remains on us. We have to take our chances, sometimes you only get a couple in tight games and they make the difference."

That's five draws in a row now for the New Zealanders who now have a week's break.
