An absolute cracking battle between the cellar-dwellers, as Canberra United rescued their poor start to the season with a thrilling 3-2 win over Sydney FC.
It was always set to be a shootout – Michelle Heyman lined up against Lisa De Vanna for the first time this season – but it was a Heyman brace that inspired her side to victory.
The Sky Blues sprung into life after conceding early, and when Caitlin Cooper leveled the scores before halftime, the momentum was all Sydney.

But despite Kylie Ledbrook giving the visitors a two goal advantage, Canberra United showed why they’re a far better side then their current form suggests – hitting two in quick succession to give United their first win of the season.
