The Bundesliga giants' head coach has stressed it is crucial for the squad to recover their winning mentality and added there was no room for complacency.

"I'm utterly convinced we can be optimistic about the new campaign, although we've had a few things to get over," Heynckes told the club's website.

"After a season like last term, you come back for pre-season training even more motivated.

"We've now won nothing for two years, so you have to report back for training with a completely different mental attitude, completely different motivation, a totally different approach.

"We have to recover our winning mentality at all costs, and we have to do something for that to happen.

"We have to do more than normal. It was shown again at the Euros - you can never be over-confident, never be satisfied, and you always have to step up another gear."

Bayern start the Bundesliga season with an away match against newly promoted Greuther Fuerth on August 24.
