Guus Hiddink has gone back on his decision to retire from management, signing a one-year extension at Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.
The 66-year-old Dutchman had announced in November last year that he was keen to end his time as a manager once the Russian Premier League season ended.
He said at the time: "It was not my intention to stay very long when I joined this club. I'm basically going to stop at the end of the season.
"At 66 years old I think I've nearly had enough. I don't know what I'll do. Maybe I'll be an advisor or supervisor to young players or coaches."
But Hiddink – who has an outstanding honour roll as a manager, taking charge of clubs including Real Madrid, PSV and Chelsea, and countries such as the Netherlands, Australia, South Korea and Turkey – has decided to stay on for another season.
Anzhi board director Konstantin Remchyukov posted a message on Twitter, revealing that the club had exercised the option to extend Hiddink's contract by one year.
"Both sides exercise the old contract's option to their mutual satisfaction. I am glad," Remchyukov tweeted.
Big-spending Anzhi finished third in the Russian Premier League last season, while they lost the Russian Cup final.
