AUSTRALIA coach Holger Osieck says the friendly against Brazil in September will allow the Socceroos to familiarise themselves with the country ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Football Federation Australia and the Brazilian Football Confederation on Thursday confirmed Brazil will host Osieck's team in Brasilia on September 7.
While the 2013 Confederations Cup winners are likely to prove tough opposition for the Socceroos, the trip to the capital of the World Cup host nation will also be used as a scouting trip ahead of the major FIFA tournament in June and July next year.
"With less than 12 months to go to the World Cup this match is a great opportunity for us to get an impression of the environment we will face," Osieck said.
"Brazil is one of the top teams in the world and a great challenge for us as we prepare ourselves for the World Cup.
"This match will be a valuable learning experience for us both on and off the field."
It will be the first meeting between the two countries since the 2006 World Cup in Germany, when Brazil won 2-0 in Munich.
