Australia and South Korea are both on four points, while Bahrain is one behind them, needing a win to progress. Osieck is adamant that simply progressing from the group with a draw is not an option and he wants his players to finish top of the group.

"We don't want to consider anything but victory as being good enough," he said. “If you play tactical games you can lose your strength and your direction. We are going out to win.

“We are in the position of having our fate in our own hands and if we perform well then we can definitely achieve our target.

"Whenever you try to play a tactical game you can lose your strength and direction and that is what we want to avoid, we will go out to perform and do well."

Osieck will decide on game day whether he takes a risk with injured left back David Carney, who hurt his shoulder against South Korea on Saturday morning.

With few back-up options for the Blackpool defender, Osieck may be forced to play him despite concerns he is not fully over the injury.

"We have some knocks and bruises from the game and we may have to replace some players," he said.

"However, we have excellent medical staff working around the clock with them. It is still pretty likely we will have everyone ready for tomorrow’s game."

Luke Wilkshire and Jason Culina are likely to sit out the game with Jade North and Carl Valeri their likely replacements in the first XI.
