SOCCEROOS midfielder James Holland has joined Dutch second tier club Sparta Rotterdam on loan from Eredivisie outfit AZ Alkmaar for the remainder of the season.
The 21-year-old, who was in the Socceroos 2010 World Cup preliminary squad, hasn't seen a minute of first-team action for AZ this season and is in desperate need of game time.
Holland, who joined AZ from Newcastle Jets in January 2009, is contracted with the Alkmaar club until 2013 but isn't in the plans of current boss Gertjan Verbeek.
It is believed Holland also spent some time earlier this month training with Premier League club Tottenham.
Sparta, who also have Aussie youngster Jimmy Downey on their books, are currently seventh in the Eerste Divisie.
It is understood Holland will not be available for Sparta's league clash with Emmen on Friday.
